I read Seth Stevenson's take on a new Dove commercial and learned that both Dove and Axe body spray, although both owned by Unilever, have very, very different approaches to advertising, which made me lose some faith in the Dove "Real-Beauty" campaign and made me view it simply as a marketing ploy. Sure, its great to see a woman who looks like me on a commercial, but when the commercial is followed by 12 more from the same company featuring size 2 models, literally shaking their behinds at the camera, the credibility of the campaign is lost. Even the "Real Beauty" campaign only features women that are still widely acceptable. I mean, there are no burn victims, or morbidly obese women that I have seen featured to date. Are they not "Real Beauties?"
