Pthalates are so much more insidious than people know. Virtually everything we eat and drink is contained or has (at some point) been transported in pthalate-containing plastic. Basically, it's the softeners that make plastic flexible that are the culprit.

Chemicals in Toyland-made me think of Babeland--there are a lot of pthalates in adult toys too.

I would like to see more advances in medical abortion- is one that is brought about by taking medications that will end a pregnancy.

Anyone else notice that women's "Desire for home and children" option is framed as the counterpart to men's "Good cook and housekeeper" option in the list of priorities at the bottom of the University of Iowa study linked page? It's funny because I read the "What Men Want" list, bristled a little at "Good cook and housekeeper" but then thought 'oh, well, sure, EVERYONE wants a partner who can cook, right?,' scanned down to see where that factor appears in "What Women Want" ... and noticed that it DOESN'T. (Nor does "Desire for home and children" appear amongst male priorities.) I get that the study is based on a series of variables scripted in the '30s, but I'd love to see some new ones added, just to see how things shake out if we present men and women identical options for our desires.

Also, Whelan commented that perhaps "pleasing disposition" has fallen in importance because it's such an "old-fashioned" term rather than simply because women no longer care whether our partners are nice. I would add--most of my first-years wouldn't even know what that meant, and since the survey was administered to undergrads ... well. That variable sort of doesn't count, unless they included a gloss.
