When I heard about Dr. George Tiller’s death, I was shocked. I was a patient of his back in 1997. I was raped by my first cousin in 1996. I found out I was pregnant. My family insisted I should get an abortion. Me & my mother went to Wichita Kansas to get the abortion done. That’s when I met Dr. George Tiller. He helped me out by terminating my pregnacy. My late unborn baby is deformed & I couldn’t keep it. So I had to do what was best which is having an abortion. I was grateful that he treated me good when I was there. I will miss him. He was doing his job & a lot of people didn’t like what he was doing. It’s a woman’s right to abort her baby.

Again and again, I am amazed at the number of men who have supported this kind of mentality. I can’t remember who the quote is attributed to, but it is perfect!–”If men could become pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament!” I work in OB, do not participate in abortion, but am certainly pro-choice. I am appalled at the number of men who abandon women who are pregnant with their children, pay no child support and shirk from all responsibility of fatherhood. If men want to participate in saving children, get behind this issue!!

I am just heartsick and angry at the same time! As a registered nurse I have seen women have children that were unwanted and I have seen the results of backstreet abortions. I started working in women’s health and OB in the mid- ’60’s when there weren’t any Dr. Tiller’s around to care for women. I grieve for his family and his patients. I am quite sure the right to choose debate will rage on, just the same. I am sure that I will always support a woman’s right to decide what is best for her. I just find it amazing that the most rabid and angry of those against a woman’s right to choose are men!!

This is truly a tragedy for Mr Tiller, his family and for anyone who believes in choice and quite frankly even for those who don’t believe in choice!

It never ceases to amaze me how rabid some people can be when it comes to a woman and her body.

Jesus stated “He without sin among you let him cast the first stone at her.” Some religious still stone raped women & own women. Who should own them as a slave? Exodus describes no penalty for women who choose to terminate pregnancy, nor does any Bible verse.

Medically, a fetus becomes a baby at its first breath. Then, siblings recognize it & it’s named, christened, given citizenship, & celebrates zero. Unless you’re a surrogate, the only way to give rights to unborn is to take away women’s.
